8-20-05 The Kiss

I've learned a very odd thing about Rodin's sculpture The Kiss; to search it on the net, one will find it only from this perspective. Isn't that odd? It is a 3-dimensional sculpture. I've seen it.
Anyway, The Kiss is by far one of my favorites and it conveys my mood-at-the-moment.

Rodin does such wonderful sketches too - I have one that is the focal point of my largest room. Its quite simple, yet still I can stare at it time and time again.

I'm terribly incompetent at expressing an evaluation on art. Just admiration - I know what I like.

I love sculptures of people generally and embraces specifically - its as though the love is captured forever in that manipulated piece of stone/metal/wood/etc. Touch it and it always seems to be warm, regardless of the material with which it was created. Magic!

Rik Emmett's poem was delightful! Loved it and its truth. Thanks for sharing.

Very true, I searched myself and only found multiple images of the sculpture from the same angle. I'd like to see it from another angle! lol. Great blog, like the background. :)

Hi Autumn, Always great to see you here. I think your evaluation of Rodin's sculpture was spot on. From the heart is all it ever takes. :) (I always sound like an art history professor. haha)

I was lucky enough to see The Kiss here in Dallas...in a sculpture garden, on a sunny afternoon, in the shade of a huge old tree. I was so very moved by it that the location and the sculpture tend to creep into my romantic dreams some nights. How great is that?

Rik Emmett is an amazing person. I am a member on his forum where he chats with fans daily.
He's a musician, a poet and a teacher. His words are so full of soul and heart and truth that I find myself awaiting each new recording with overwhelming anticipation. His music is one of the blessings in my life.

Tomeh, thanks for stopping by. I sincerely hope you have the opportunity to see any of Rodin's sculptures. They are intensely moving. I long to see his sculpture "The Gates of Hell". It is an incredible depiction of Dante's "Inferno". I've only ever seen photos (and can't find any on the web...very odd.) Although...I did notice I can buy a VHS of it. ;)
